Cars vs Bikes

I've been working with e-bikes and scooters since 1997 and have always been confounded by the seemingly irrational Federal Govt. speed and power restrictions. E-bikes are limited to 20 MPH using motor assist power alone. The motor itself can't exceed 750 Watts. Nowhere in the Federal regulations is this 750 Watt limit specified as continuous or peak output. I suspect the writers of the "law" are somewhat ignorant with regard to the subject.

Prather Signs Electric Car Order

Kentucky Transportation Secretary Joe Prather today signed an administrative order that allows electric vehicles, that travel at speeds of at less than 45 miles per hour, to operate on roadways with posted speed limits of no more than 45 mph.
